Church/Thurston’s concert canceled for November 1

Dear ones,
2 days ago, we had another COVID positive test from someone in our congregation. Due to many factors and the counsel of our conference office, we have made the difficult decision to cancel church this Sunday, November 1st & be virtual. We will reschedule The Thurston’s ( at a later time, probably in 2021.

YouTube: At this late hour, I am uncertain as to when a video will be uploaded to YouTube as I had not planned on having a sermon ready :-/ And, it’s been taking 6-10 hours to upload lately. I suspect YouTube is overloaded with so many churches uploading their videos on Sunday.

So, what about next week? It is our plan & hope to return to in-person worship on November 8th. Having said that, our State’s health department just reduced the maximum in-person gatherings from 100 to 50 persons. So, things are clearly moving in the wrong direction in terms of increasing cases of COVID and this was one of the many factors we considered into this decision.

Want some good news? According to the CDC website, while cases are on the rise in many areas, death rates are declining. Specifically, .2 deaths per 100,000 in the U.S. in the last 7 days compared to 69 deaths per 100,000 since January 21, 2020. (

I will close with 3 reminders:
1) None of us like any of this. I think we are all pretty weary of it all. But God is still on the throne. So, let us look to Him for strength & trust in Him for our future & learn what He wants to teach us in the present.
Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble.”

2) If you want to give, you can still give your offeringby:
*going to & clicking “Donate”
*downloading the app & setting up an account
*going to a Southern MI Bank & Trust & tell them you want to make a deposit in SFMC’s checking account
God bless you for your giving!

3) Church closings can be found on WWMT channel 3 (CBS) & their website:

God’s best & God bless,
Pastor Daryl
